POWER STEERING FLUID CHANGE

The workings of the hydraulic power steering

Power steering system uses engine power to operate the vane pump that produces hydraulic pressure. When the steering wheel is deflected, the oil circuit to the control valve is activated. When the oil pressure supplied to the power piston in the cylinder power, the power needed to move the steering wheel is reduced. This type requires a power steering fluid power steering leak checks periodically.

Power Steering Fluid Change

CHECK THE DRIVE BELT
# Check the belt visually from damage, such as excessive wear and fiber peeling.
# If damage is found, replace the drive belt.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Rift belt on the side of the rib is still acceptable. replace the belt if there are some missing ribs
DISPOSING AIR POWER STEERING SYSTEMS
# Check the fluid level.
# Jack the front of the vehicle and prop with a prop.
# Turn the steering wheel.
# With the engine off, steered wheel slowly from lock to lock several times.
# Lower the vehicle.
# Turn on the machine.Run the engine at idle for a few minutes rounds.
# Turn the steering wheel.
# With the engine idling, steered wheels to the left or right on full lock position and hold that position for 2 to 3 seconds.
Then turn the wheel to full lock position and hold the opposite position for 2 to 3 seconds (step A).
* Repeat steps (A) several times.
# Turn off the machine.
# Check for the existence of a foam or emulsion.Especially, if the system should be bleding twice as foam or emulsion, check for fluid leaks in the system.
CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL
# Keep the flatness of the vehicle.
# In case the engine off, check the fluid level in the reservoir oil.If necessary add fluid.
Fluid:ATF "DEXRON" II
INSTRUCTIONS:Check the fluid level is in the HOT range level in the reservoir tank. If the fluid is cold, check the fluid level in range COLD.
# Turn on the machine and let it sit idle.
# Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock position several times to increase the fluid temperature.
Fluid temperature:75 to 80 ° C (167 to 176 ° F)
# Check for the existence of a foam or emulsion. When the foam or emulsion arise, pass gas again the power steering system.
# With the engine idle, measuring the level of fluid in the reservoir oil.
# Turn off the machine.Wait a few minutes and measuring the fluid level in oil reservoir again.
Increasing the maximum fluid level:5 mm (0.20 ins.)
# If the problem is found, remove the power steering system of the wind again.Check the fluid level.
CHECK THE STEERING FLUID PRESSURE
# Remove the pressure feed tube from the pump vane
# Dispose of wind power steering system.
# Turn on the machine and let it sit idle.
# Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock position several times to increase the fluid temperature.
Fluid temperature:75 to 80 ° C (167 to 176 ° F)
# With the engine idle, close the valve and check the readings on SST SST.
Fluid pressure:5400 to 5900 kPa (55 to 60 kgf/cm2, 783 to 856 psi)
CAUTION:
* Do not leave the valve closed more than 10 seconds.
* Do not let the fluid temperature becomes too high.
# With the engine idle, full open valve.
# Measure the fluid pressure when the engine turns at 1,000 rpm and 3,000 rpm.
Fluid pressure difference:490 kPa (5 kgf/cm2, 71 psi) or less
CAUTION:Do not deflect the steering wheel.

# With the engine idle and fully open valve, swung the steering wheel to full lock position.

Fluid pressure:5400 to 5900 kPa (55 to 60 kgf/cm2, 783 to 856 psi)
CAUTION:
* Do not let the steering wheel in full lock position more than 10 seconds.
* Do not let the fluid temperature becomes too high.
# Remove the SST.
# Connect the pressure feed tube to the pump vane
# Dispose of wind power steering system.
CHECK THE STEERING effort
# Position the middle of the steering wheel assembly.
# Remove the steering pad
# Turn on the machine and let it sit idle.
# Measure the steering effort in two directions.
Steering effort (Reference):6.0 N * m (60 kgf * cm, 53 in .* lbf) or less
INSTRUCTIONS:Check the tire type, pressure and surface contact before making a diagnosis.
# Replace the steering wheel set nut assembly.
Occasion:34 N * m {349 kgf * cm, 25 ft lbf .*}
# Replace the steering pad
