Outline of a car engine


Outline of Engine
  In gasoline engines, air-fuel mixture detonated in the engine, and power is converted into rotational motion to propel the vehicle.
To operate the machine, various kinds of systems are provided in addition to the basic machine.


1. Basic machine
2. Suction system
3. Fuel system
4. Lubrication system
5. Cooling system
6. Exhaust system



Operation
 To generate power to propel the vehicle, the gasoline engine to repeat the following four steps:


.Step suction
.Compression stroke
.Step combustion
.Step waste


These steps draw in air-fuel mixture into the cylinder, compress it, mengapikan and burn it, then throw it away. The fourth repeat this activity allows the gasoline engine to get power. This type of machine called a 4-stroke engine.


Valve mechanism
Suction and exhaust valves open and close in accordance with the rotation of the cam shafts.


Cam shaft rotates once (to open and close the valve once) with the second round of the crankshaft (2 back and forth movement of the piston).
The engine is the most important part that makes the vehicle run. Therefore, each component is made of part-part precision.


1. Cylinder head

Part-part which forms the combustion chamber with the piston down to the bottom of the cylinder head.


2. Cylinder block
Cylinder block
Part-parts that form the framework of building machine. To operate the machine with a soft, used some of the cylinders.


3. Piston
Piston
Piston moves vertically in the cylinder, as a result of pressure generated by the combustion air-fuel mixture.


4. Crankshaft
Crankshaft
Linear movement of the crankshaft to change pistons into rotational motion through the rod linkage (connecting rod).


5. Flywheel
Flywheel
Flywheel is made from heavy steel plate, and turn the crankshaft rotational movement into inertia. Therefore, he can produce a stable power rotation.




6. Valve mechanism
Valve mechanism is a group of components that open and close valves in suction and exhaust valve cylinder head at the right time.
Timing chain
These chains transmit rotational movement of the crankshaft to the cam shafts.


VVT-i system (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent)
VVT-i system uses a computer to optimally control the opening and closing the suction valve according to engine conditions.


The system uses hydraulic pressure to differentiate the time of opening and closing the suction valve, suction resulting in increased efficiency, torque, power output, fuel economy and cleaner exhaust gases.


In addition to VVT-i system, there is also a VVTL-i system (Variable Valve Timing and Lift-Intelligent) which increases the volume of the valve lifter (step) and increase the efficiency of suction during rotation at high speed




7. Drive belt
Belt drives transmit power to the crankshaft rotation alternator, power steering pump, A / C compressor through the pulleys. Typically, a vehicle having two or three belts.
Drive belts should be checked whether the voltage is correct or whether the experience wear and tear, and must be replaced at predetermined intervals.




8. Oil pan
This is where the oil, which is made of steel or aluminum. Oil pan has dropped into the container and wall insulation, so that even if the vehicle in a condition to climb, there will be a sufficient volume of oil in the bottom of oil pan.
